KanaGo Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the KanaGo mobile app ("App"). These Terms also serve as part of the App's third-party component disclosure, voice-model attribution notice, and related usage guidance. By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service Description
KanaGo is a Japanese-learning app that includes kana study, vocabulary study, scene-based practice, AI translation, AI custom topic generation, AI custom scene generation, and Premium advanced speech features. Some features require network access, compatible devices, available quotas, or paid entitlements.
2. Eligibility
You must use the App in compliance with applicable law. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, use should be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
3. License
Subject to these Terms and the rules of the platform from which you downloaded the App, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract underlying models, resources, or interfaces except where prohibited from restricting that activity by law.
- Interfere with the App's operation or bypass permissions, quotas, entitlements, authentication controls, or technical limitations.
- Use the App for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, infringing, or otherwise improper purposes.
- Submit, generate, distribute, or publish content that you do not have the right to use or that violates third-party intellectual property, personality, or other legal rights.
5. User Input and Generated Content
You are responsible for the text, prompts, location information, and other material you submit to the App, as well as for any generated output that you export, share, or publish. AI output, translations, and synthesized speech may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for a particular learning, business, or public-use context.
If you use App-generated text, scene content, or audio outside the App, you are responsible for reviewing it and for complying with applicable third-party terms, attribution obligations, and law.
6. Intellectual Property
The App and its software, design, learning content, branding, and related materials are protected by intellectual property law. Except for the limited license granted above, all rights are reserved by us or the relevant rights holders. Third-party components, frameworks, and voice models used in the App remain owned by their respective rights holders.
7. Paid, Online, and Experimental Features
Some features may require network access, valid quotas, trial eligibility, or paid entitlements. If you obtain paid rights through Apple, purchase, renewal, cancellation, and refund flows are governed by Apple's platform rules. We may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue online or experimental features at any time.
8. Third-Party Services and Components
Parts of the App rely on third-party services or components, including:
- Apple: App Store, in-app purchases where applicable, iCloud / CloudKit syncing, location services, and geocoding or reverse geocoding.
- AI Center: online AI translation and content-generation services.
- VOICEVOX: local speech-synthesis components and bundled voice models used for advanced speech.
Your use of those third-party services or components may also be subject to their own terms, policies, and rights requirements.
9. VOICEVOX Attribution and Bundled Voice Models
KanaGo's advanced speech feature uses VOICEVOX and voice models bundled with the App. Under the VOICEVOX voice-model terms, audio generated with VOICEVOX requires attribution that makes use of VOICEVOX identifiable.
For the voice models currently bundled with the App, the applicable credit strings include:

If you export, publish, repost, redistribute, or otherwise use KanaGo-generated audio outside the App, you are responsible for confirming and complying with any further conditions or attribution rules applicable to the relevant speaker.
10. Availability and Updates
We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue App features, content, network interfaces, models, plans, or regional availability at any time. We do not guarantee that all features will remain continuously available, error-free, or unchanged.
11. Educational and AI Disclaimer
KanaGo is an educational support tool. Learning outcomes vary by user, effort, study approach, and context. We do not guarantee any particular proficiency level, certification result, commercial result, or real-world outcome, and we do not guarantee that AI or synthesized-speech output will be fully accurate, complete, or fit for a specific purpose.
12. Warranty Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including loss of data, profits, business opportunity, or content-use results.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or if suspension or termination is required for legal, security, or operational reasons.
15. Governing Law, Updates, and Contact
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the service operator is established, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence requires otherwise. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after updates take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
