KanaGo Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how KanaGo ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the KanaGo mobile app. It covers on-device data handling, optional iCloud syncing, online AI features, and data flows related to advanced speech.
1. Information We Process
- Learning records and app settings: such as learning progress, completed items, reminder settings, appearance mode, language mode, haptics, and iCloud sync preferences.
- Content you choose to enter: such as AI translation text, AI custom topic prompts, AI custom scene prompts, and related generated drafts.
- Speech and cache data: such as Premium advanced speech output, local VOICEVOX audio cache, AI translation cache, and place or generation data stored in custom scene drafts.
- Request and entitlement data needed for online features: when you use online AI functions, the app may process request identifiers, session data, and Apple App Transaction or other purchase-verification data needed to establish service sessions, confirm entitlements, and prevent abuse.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide learning features and preserve your progress and preferences.
- Provide AI translation, AI custom topic, and AI custom scene features.
- Generate, cache, and play advanced speech locally on your device.
- Sync eligible app data when you enable iCloud syncing.
- Support security, entitlement validation, quota control, and troubleshooting.
3. Where Data Is Stored
- On-device storage: the app stores learning records, settings, AI cache, custom scene drafts, speech cache, and other operational data locally on your device, including through Core Data, UserDefaults, and system cache directories.
- iCloud / CloudKit (optional): if you enable iCloud sync in the app, some data managed through the app's shared data store may sync to your iCloud account through Apple CloudKit. Not every cache file is intended to sync.
4. AI Features and Remote Processing
If you use AI translation, AI custom topic, or AI custom scene features, relevant text you submit, selected language or generation parameters, and the authentication data needed to establish a session may be sent to our online service AI Center in order to return translations or generated content.
These online AI features are optional and are not required for core offline study features. Please avoid entering unnecessary sensitive personal information. AI output may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be reviewed before you rely on it.
5. Location, Maps, and Geocoding
KanaGo's scene map is based on built-in app content and core study features do not require your device location. However, if you choose to use your current location in an AI custom scene flow, the app may request "When In Use" location permission and read the current location information permitted by your system settings.
In that optional flow, the app may also use Apple's geocoding or reverse-geocoding services to obtain a place name, address summary, or approximate geographic context. Related location data may be stored locally as part of a scene draft.
6. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal information. To provide specific features, information may be processed in the following ways:
- Apple: for App Store purchases where applicable, iCloud / CloudKit sync, location services, and geocoding or reverse geocoding.
- AI Center: for online AI translation and content-generation features.
- VOICEVOX: advanced speech uses bundled VOICEVOX components and voice models locally on your device. By default, the app does not send your speech text to an online VOICEVOX service.
7. Information We Do Not Intentionally Require
- No in-app username / password account system.
- No third-party advertising SDK tracking.
- No third-party profile-tracking analytics.
- No camera, microphone, contacts, or photo-library access required for core learning features.
8. Retention and Deletion
- You can reset progress inside the app (Profile > Reset Account).
- Some local drafts or cache files may remain after a reset until they are overwritten by the app, cleared by the system cache mechanism, or removed when you uninstall the app.
- If iCloud sync is enabled, related deletions or changes may sync through Apple services.
- Removing the app from a device removes the app's local data from that device.
9. Children's Privacy
KanaGo is an educational app. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child submitted information in a way inconsistent with this policy, contact us and we will review promptly.
10. Security
We rely on Apple platform-standard storage and security mechanisms and use reasonable measures where practical to protect app data. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. International Processing
If you use iCloud sync or online AI features, relevant information may be processed in regions where Apple infrastructure or our service infrastructure operates, depending on platform settings and service deployment.
12. Changes and Contact
